Number plate thefts

Owing to our proximity to two petrol stations and the rise in fuel costs we are still experiencing thefts of vehicles number plates.

If any member  would like security screws to secure their number plates please contact us, we will attend their address and fit them.  This service is FREE.

Scrap Metal Vans

Some Co-ordinators are reporting a rise in the number of old vans cruising the area: they appear to be crewed by people collecting scrap metal.  Not a problem in its self but they do seem to go too far.

There have been reports of garden furniture and bicycles being stolen.

Please ensure that any items of value are locked up at the rear of you house where these opportunists won't dee them.

Church End News - Cannabis Factory discovered in South Woodford - January 2012:

Photo of Sergeant David Somerville at the Cannibas Factory in Peel Road

After receiving intelligence that a private dwelling had been converted to cultivate cannabis in Church End Ward, the local Safer Neighbourhoods Team obtained a search warrant for a private house in Peel Road, South Woodford.

At 1540hrs on Thursday 29th December 2011, Officers forced entry to the house to find that it had been converted to hydroponically cultivate cannibas plants.  600 cannibas plants were seized, the majority of these were fully mature and ready to harvest, there were no inhabitants.

"We have disrupted a gang growing cannabis".

Police have taken away all the equipment estimated to be worth in excess of £3,000 and enquires are being made with a local letting agent to identify the person(s) responsible.

Sergeant David Somerville said " Through timely intervention we have disrupted  a gang grwoing a considerable amount of cannibas.  There was also added danger as the electricity meter had been by passed and the area had an automatic irrigation system resulting in water and electriciy crudely plumbed throughout the property.  We urge residents and businesses to contact us if they have suspicions about other properties".
